Ever feel like your success is just luck, and it is only a matter of time before someone finds out? Even the most accomplished professionals carry this quiet worry of impostor syndrome, especially in high-pressure environments where the rules keep changing. On 14 October, Dr Sharon Munyaka, drawing on positive psychology, systems thinking, and over 20 years of experience working with leaders, will guide us through why self-doubt so often targets high achievers and how to build lasting resilience. You will walk away with a clearer understanding of your own patterns and practical, immediate tools to reframe self-doubt, sustain your performance, and lead yourself and others with steadiness through complexity.
The meeting will be held from 14:00-16:00.

Time: 16:00 – 17:00
Join the Life Assurance Sessional. It will explore how IFRS 17 has quietly pushed actuaries into unfamiliar territory. With actuarial models now driving key figures in insurers’ financial statements, actuarial work is increasingly subject to scrutiny within financial statement audits, often by other actuaries acting as subject matter experts. Actuaries are, in effect, auditing each other. Yet unlike accountants, who operate within a well-established framework of International Standards on Auditing (ISAs), actuaries have no equivalent professional standards to guide them when they step into the reviewer’s seat.
This session brings that tension into the open. Drawing on practical experience from actuarial consulting and financial reporting engagements, it explores where and why reviewing approaches currently diverge, from modelling methodologies and discount rates to the treatment of pipeline premiums, and asks what the profession should do about it.
