IFoA Fees Update
We would like to bring several important updates to the attention of candidates intending to sit examinations outsourced to the IFoA during the September 2026 examination session.
1. IFoA Examination Fee Increase – Applicable for Semester 2, 2026
The IFoA has implemented an increase in examination fees, applicable for the September 2026 examination session. This adjustment has been made independently by the IFoA and applies to all candidates, including ASSA members.
Full details regarding the revised fees are available from the IFoA. For ease of reference, the updated examination fees applicable to ASSA candidates are summarised below:

2. Examination Delivery Format for IFoA Examinations
ASSA members will continue to have the option of writing examinations outsourced to the IFoA, either:
– Virtually via remote proctoring, o
– In-person at a designated examination venue.
Venue-based sittings for each examination will only proceed if a minimum of 10 candidates per examination per venue elect to write at that venue. Where this threshold is not met, affected candidates will be transferred to the virtual format.
While both delivery options remain available, candidates are encouraged to carefully consider the benefits of writing at a designated examination venue.
ASSA continues to observe that a disproportionate number of examination incidents, technical disruptions and examination sanctions arise in remote examination sittings when compared to venue-based examinations. Although some candidates successfully complete virtual examinations, the remote format inherently introduces a range of risks that are outside the control of ASSA and the IFoA.
Candidates electing to write virtually acknowledge and accept responsibility for ensuring that they have a fully compliant technical and invigilation environment for the duration of the examination and understand the risks associated with remote examination delivery. These risks may include, but are not limited to:
– Internet connectivity interruptions or instability;
– Power outages or loadshedding-related disruptions;
– Device performance, compatibility or configuration issues;
– Environmental interruptions or distractions; and
– Difficulties complying with remote invigilation requirements.
Where these risks are a concern, candidates are strongly encouraged to consider writing at a designated examination venue. Venue-based examinations provide a more controlled and supported environment, including:
– Stable, managed internet connectivity;
– Standardised examination equipment and setup;
– On-site technical support;
– Reduced exposure to home-based disruptions;
– A professionally invigilated examination environment; and
– Lower risk of technical and invigilation-related incidents.
3. Key Registration Dates
Registration for examinations outsourced to the IFoA will open on 22 June 2026 and close on 12 July 2026.
Candidates intending to sit IFoA examinations should take careful note of the associated timelines. Final examination results are scheduled for release on 9 July 2026, with registration closing only three days later on 12 July 2026.
Given the limited time available between results publication and registration closure, candidates are strongly encouraged to prepare in advance, including engaging with employers where approval, funding or study support may be required, to ensure they are able to register timeously.
Please note that late registrations cannot be accommodated under any circumstances, as these timelines are set by the IFoA.

4. Education Support Initiatives
Registration for Education Support Initiatives (ESIs) for examinations outsourced to the IFoA will close on 14 June 2026.
We strongly encourage candidates planning to sit any examination outsourced to the IFoA to participate in an Education Support Initiative where available.
The Education Support Initiatives provide structured support, guidance and opportunities for engagement with experienced facilitators and fellow candidates. Participation can assist candidates in developing a deeper understanding of the syllabus, improving examination technique, maintaining study momentum and identifying areas requiring additional focus ahead of the examination session.
In addition to the academic benefits, ESIs provide candidates with a valuable support network throughout their preparation journey and can contribute significantly to maintaining accountability and consistency in study efforts.
Candidates interested in participating are encouraged to register before the closing date to avoid disappointment.
Should you have any questions regarding registrations, examination delivery options or Education Support Initiatives, please contact the Education Team.
