Committee Mandate and Activities
The ASSA AI Committee primary focus is generative AI, large language models and agentic workflows, while machine learning and deep learning remain in scope where relevant to actuarial work.
- AI for current actuarial practice
Practical guidance, professional standards, and the benchmarking and validation of AI against real actuarial tasks. - AI for future practice areas
Identifying and developing opportunities for actuaries to contribute to AI leadership beyond traditional actuarial fields. - AI and society
Addressing fairness, explainability and the public interest, and engaging with regulators on the responsible use of AI in financial services. - Education and professionalism
Substantive CPD and practical learning for members, together with practitioner input into ASSA’s education and professionalism frameworks.
Current activities include developing practical guidance and technical outputs, an AI learning and practice environment, a curated repository of AI skills and resources, practitioner events and masterclasses, and engagement with local regulators and international actuarial bodies.
