| 2021 VIRTUAL CONVENTION |
| |
We are pleased to announce the dates for the 2021 Virtual Convention:
19-22 October. The three-day Convention will be preceded by the Africa
Seminar on the afternoon of 19 October.
Taking into account the continuing challenges presented by the pandemic, but
also considering the success of the 2020 Virtual Convention, it was not difficult to
decide that another virtual Convention would be appropriate for our Society, and
for these times.
Q3 is always a busy time of year with exams, International Actuarial Association
(IAA) meetings, and a number of important religious observances. Setting dates to
minimise clashes requires some compromise, and this year we acknowledge and
plan accordingly for:
Milad un Nabi on Tuesday, 19 October. We regret this clash with the Africa Seminar
but are optimistic that in closing by 5pm at the latest there will be plenty of time to
prepare ahead of sunset.
Sabbath on Friday, 22 October. Sunset is predicted at 7:06pm and we are optimistic
that in closing by 5pm at the latest there will be plenty of time to prepare for and
welcome the Sabbath.
Jumu’ah on Friday, 22 October. We will schedule a long lunch break from around
12:30pm to 2:00pm to accommodate. |

All Convention attendees are hereby invited to submit their proposals for
papers and presentations to be given at the 2021 Virtual Convention.
As with previous conventions, the Society welcomes papers and presentations
that cover all spheres of the actuarial profession, including technology,
research, and data science amongst others. For more qualifying criteria,
please visit the website.
In addition to the three coveted prizes for outstanding papers awarded
annually, we are delighted to announce that this year, an additional prize,
The Best Oral Presentation Prize, for a 20-minute pre-recorded presentation,
will be awarded for outstanding presentations as selected by the Actuarial
Society’s Research Committee. |

The Convention programme has been refined to suit the virtual format, bringing
with it more opportunities for sponsors to engage with all participants, partners, and
speakers. With a leading virtual exhibition platform and the benefits of technology
at our disposal, we will be able to help you share your products, services, and
solutions with potential clients.
We are excited to announce that the following partners will be
participating in the 2021 Virtual Convention |
