2022 Registration

EARLY REGISTRATION IS EXTENDED TO FRIDAY, 12 AUGUST

It’s quick and easy to do so don’t delay!

The registration fees for in-person and virtual participation are the same, and both price points are only a 14% increase on the 2019 rates – the last time we were together face-to-face. This pricing is in line with ASSA’s hybrid Seminar pricing which has been in place since April and which recognises that the cost to produce the virtual and in-person aspects of a meeting does not vary significantly.

All participants will benefit from the programme content, will be able to participate in Q&A and polls, and will have on-demand access to recorded sessions for one year after the Convention. While in-person participants get the barista coffee, virtual participants will get their tea breaks delivered to them, as we did  in 2020 and 2021.

Events to enjoy at the Convention

We look forward to engaging with all attendees at the International Committee: Africa Seminar and various social events on the programme. These include:

  • • The Happy Hour which will take place at the CTICC as an in-person-only event, but virtual participants are invited to pop in if they are in Cape Town.
  • • The Convention Cocktails and Dinner which will also be in-person only, but virtual participants have the option to buy a ticket if they feel like stepping out for the evening.
  • • The International Committee: Africa Seminar, where we delve into issues and developments in the actuarial profession around the African continent, will take place on the day preceding the Convention and has been expanded to a full-day seminar.

WIM ELS MEMORIAL FUND

Wim Els served the Actuarial Society of South Africa with distinction from 1 June 1996 until his untimely death on 24 May 2021. Through this time, he showed an unyielding passion to serving the Society and the profession. He served all members of the Society – from the most venerated Fellow to the most junior struggling student – with equal respect. In addition, he actively worked to position ASSA on the global actuarial stage.

Through his work with the Actuarial Society Academy (ASA) and the Actuarial Society Education Trust (ASET), Wim was able to combine his passion for the transformation of both ASSA and South Africa with his commitment to serving ASSA and its members.

As a tribute to Wim, please consider adding a donation to your registration. You will find the option to donate as you complete the registration form and the donation will be added to your invoice.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Participation in the Actuarial Society’s Convention can count toward a member’s CPD requirements.

The outcomes-based CPD system focusses on personal growth rather than compliance. It is therefore key to study the Convention programme beforehand to choose sessions which will be useful to your personal development plan. The thrust of outcomes-based CPD is to develop yourself by identifying areas of need, acquiring these new capabilities, and then incorporating and honing them in your practice.

Please visit the Society’s website for further information on the CPD scheme:
