The Absa Life Actuarial team has just over 50 people, with about a quarter being qualified actuaries and the remainder associate actuaries and students. The team covers the full end-to-end actuarial services for insurance entities in South Africa, Kenya, Botswana, Zambia and Mozambique. The Life business’s main focus is bancassurance, but they also have standalone products. The product range includes: Credit Life, Funeral Cover, limited products, fully and digitally underwritten products and Group Risk.

Absa has non-Life insurance operations in South Africa, Kenya and Mozambique. A large actuarial team is responsible for this and their responsibilities range across pricing, reserving, capital modelling and data science.
Within our team, we employ a diverse range of people, from enterprise risk specialists to expert data scientists. There is a strong focus on automation and building technological solutions to improve our analytics. The team aims to improve customer experience and business performance through data- driven decision-making.
