Banking & Finance Committee: Overview

The Finance and Banking committee was established to consider the current and potential Actuarial involvement in the Finance and Banking arena. There a number of Actuaries and Actuarial students within the finance and banking space already and a growing demand for more employees with the skills sets that Actuaries have specialised in.

Our main objectives as a new committee in 2011 are the following:

• Establish the committee and introduce it to the Actuarial Society
• Engage in research discussions which add to the finance and banking
  discussions
• Hold both introductory and advanced sessionals
• Look at framework for further education
• Establish relationships with key stakeholders
• Investigate key issues in the banking environment
• Provide guidance to practicing Actuaries within the banking and finance
  environment
